Spellsongs: Bard casts arcana spellsongs – a tiny, fractional but powerful part of the grand "song of existence.. Spellsongs are divided into three types: spellnotes, spellchords and spellmelodies (or notes, chords and melodies). They all have verbal components but no somatic or material components.

Spellnotes are cast as a move action. Spellchords are cast as a standard (attack) action. Spellmelodies are cast as full-round actions.

Spellsongs are treated as arcana spells for the purpose of dispel magic, detect magic, spell resistance and so forth. Spellnotes are treated as 1st level spells, chords as 3rd level and melodies as 5th.

A bard can cast a certain number of spellsongs per day but does not need to prepare them beforehand. They know additional spellsongs based on their Charisma. A bard needs a minimum Charisma of 11 to cast notes, 13 to cast chords and 15 to cast melodies.

The Difficulty Class for saving throws against a spellsong is 11 + Charisma modifier for notes, 13 + Charisma modifier for chords, and 15 + Charisma modifier for melodies.

A bard may expend five spellnote slots to cast a spellchord or three spellchord slots to cast a spellmelody. A single chord slot can be sacrificed to cast five notes and a single melody can be sacrificed to cast three chords.

Bards cannot use feats such as Spell Focus or metamagic feats. They have their own feats to affect spellsongs.
